dining room Living Areas

The Chateau is full of original features, stone and wood floors, open beams, massive fireplaces, a tower, comfortable furnishings and French antiques. It is fully centrally heated and very cosy in winter while in summer, due to its ancient thick stone walls, it remains cool even on the hottest days.

The dining room is very atmospheric and highly conducive to long dinner parties by candlelight! Seating up to 24 people it has an original stone fireplace with carved wooden surround and open beamed ceiling.
kitchen The kitchen is also a great gathering place for cooking and chatting round the big table. While it is fully equipped and convenient, it retains all its original features in addition to copper pots, wooden settles, cosy armchairs, antique cupboards and a grandfather clock!

Off the living room is a play room where there are children’s books, toys and various games. There is a table-football table, a collapsible ping pong table and a snooker table in the house which can be put up in one of the large bedrooms if required.
bedroom Bedrooms

Downstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms, sleeping five people in one double and one triple with a WC adjoining. All have lovely views over the garden and surrounding countryside and are furnished with antique beds and cupboards.

On the first floor there are six bedrooms, sleeping eleven people in two doubles and seven single beds. Five of the bedrooms are very large and many of the single beds are sleigh beds which can easily sleep two children. Additionally, there are extra camp beds if needed. Every room has its own atmosphere and lovely views. They are all furnished with original furniture that has been in the house for generations.

swimming pool Grounds

There is a sizeable low-chemical swimming pool (15 x 7 metres) with a patio and alarm.  Surrounding the field where the pool is situated is a wall with a gate for security.  The views over the valley from the pool are spectacular.

There is a large grassy terrace at the back of the house where you can enjoy outdoor eating at long tables under shady trees.  Spend time just soaking up the silence, the wind rustling the trees, the cicadas and crickets clicking out their lazy summer melody, birdsong, lizards slithering over ancient stones, cows grazing across the valley, deer drinking at the distant stream….
grounds The Chateau is set in 32 beautiful acres of gardens, fields, woods and open land.

The present chateau, built in 1670, has always been the property of the Barons of Cautine until it was purchased by the current owners 2 years ago.
